We are basking in the glory of the grand success of the previous four Global Updates on Pain (2000, 2003, 2006 and 2009). Now Pain Management and Research Foundation and Dept. of Anaesthesiology and Pain at Lilavati Hospital and Research Center are organizing Global Update on Pain (V) to be held on 25th -28th October 2012.
Global Updates on Pain held till date were in true sense Global as these meetings had academic co-sponsors worldwide such as: UICC (Switzerland); Indian Society for Study of Pain; Royal Society of Medicine (RSM); Specialist in Pain International Network (SPIN-U.K.); Egyptian Pain Society; Mumbai Pain Management Group and Grant Medical College and JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai.
Pain Management and Research Foundation-India is a scientific body to promote the cause of Pain and its management. Its activities include organizing of Global Updates on Pain (every three year since 2000); international guest lectures, panel discussion and symposia. Pain Exhibition, Pain Management Awareness Program and T.V. talks are highlights of its activities.
PAN ARAB INSTITUTE OF PAIN (PAIP) PAIP was founded in 2003 between Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, labia, Algeria and Lebanon. The first president of this institute was Professor Omar Tawfik, chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology and pain management at National cancer Institute in Cairo University.
The PAIP is an institute aiming to gather most of the pain societies in the region of the Middle East. The aim is to connect pain practitioners in this region to cooperate scientifically in the field of pain management.
The new council is formed from eleven members representing all the countries mentioned before. The residence of the PAIP is in Cairo Egypt.

Lilavati Hospital and Research Center ranks among the finest multi specialty and NABH accredated hospital in the country. It has an active Pain Management Clinic (PMC) and has post operative pain management program. The PMC offers variety of interventional pain treatment procedures for all types of chronic pain patients.
The conference will be at adjacent Mumbai Education Trust auditorium.
This meeting will have Plenary sessions, Seminars, Symposia, Panel discussions and Poster presentations. There will be Hands on Cadaver Workshop, Live Demonstration workshop.
“Pain Exhibition” and “Pain Awareness Program” will be additional highlights of the meeting.
